RESORT LAUNCHES MAJOR BEACH CLEAN-UP
This month is InterContinental Hotels Group’s (IHG) annual global movement known as September Giving for Good.
In doing so, the InterContinental Fiji Golf Resort and Spa in Natadola is also doing its bid to support the initiative.
The global focus is centred around contributing to key projects that benefit the environment, community and promoting health fitness and wellbeing.
InterContinental Fiji Golf Resort and Spa’s 2019 focus is around community and sustainability in the Natadola Bay community. Preserving the pristine environment is vital for present and future generations, which resulted in 120 people conducting a beach cleanup campaign. The resort team in partnership with the local school participated in the clean-up. Resort Human Resources manager Jacob Pau’u said: “There was a lot of rubbish collected along our two-kilometre beachfront and surrounding areas.
“It saddens us to see that this gift from nature is tarnished by day visitors and we implore everyone to be mindful and clean up after themselves when enjoying time at this beautiful location.
“It’s been an exciting September for us so far at the InterContinental Fiji Golf Resort and Spa.
“We are reconnecting with our natural environment, our local community and creating that quintessential relationship and understanding which is dear to us.”
All the participation in these planned activities that are ongoing during September will count towards the IHG True Hospitality for Good programme for communities and charitable giving.
It provides colleagues in hotels and offices with a greater say in how they support important causes around the world. Together, the aim is to help change lives for the better through building skills and education in hospitality, and to support communities when disasters strike.
Mr Pau’u said: “There is a lot more that we will be doing as a resort for the Natadola Bay community. “This is only the start and we look forward to sharing what we will be contributing as a whole as part of our IHG True Hospitality for Good programme.” Source: InterContinental Fiji Golf Resort and Spa
