Land Force Command farewells two officers and landscaper

The Republic of Fiji Military Forces (RFMF) Land Force Command (LFC) has farewelled three of its officers. They are LFC Sergeant Major Warrant Officer Class One (WO1) Tuita Vunibaka, Corporal Josateki Qiokata and Ratu Joji Bakoso the landscaper.

These former members of the LFC were accorded with a church service, a feast and a Fijian traditiona­l farewell protocol to thank them for their service. Meanwhile Senior Officer, Major Jeremaia Waqanisau thanked WO1 Vunibaka for his 30 years of service to the military. “You have done a great job throughout your service and we thank you for your commitment and dedication to your duties. As we all know there is a time when we enlisted for work in the military and there is also a time when we will retire. We all have a time to start and a time to end. Today, we farewell you with our words of thanks, thanking you for your service in the military, but the last and not the least, we would also like to thank your wife for her support. She has done a great job in order for you to do your work to the best of your abilities”, said Major Waqanisau.

Mr Vunibaka thanked the RFMF for the good things that he had achieved during his service and added that he had gained a lot in the military. He said that he got contracted again for another three years and it ended when he turned 58.

WO1 Vunibaka thanked the Commander RFMF, Rear Admiral Viliame Naupoto, the Land Force Commander (LFC) Colonel Manoa Gadai and members of the RFMF for what he gained in his years of service.

He hails from Qalikarua in the island of Matuku.

Corporal Qiokata said that he served for 35 years in the military. He enlisted in 1982 when he was 19 years old. He said that in the military he had managed to find a good wife, children, a house, a car. He even worked in places around the world that some people had not been to. He thanked the military for what he had achieved throughout his career.

Also farewelled was landscaper Ratu Joji Bakoso. He was known in the military as Tuba.

Mr Bakoso was enlisted into the QEB Service Support when he was in his early twenties but has retired after reaching 55.

He thanked the military for allowing him to work for the RFMF and further added that in all his years with the military he had managed to purchase a property.

Mr Bakoso hails from Natauloa village in the island of Nairai in Lomaiviti.
