Christal Kapoor credits her many achievements to the prayers of her family and friends.

The 24-year-old was crowned Miss Vodafone Sugar Festival 2019, Miss Personality, awarded the Best Research topic and Best Traditional Attire in the week-long event.

The final year student of the University of Fiji pursuing a Bachelor of Arts degree in English and Hindi said being a Christian was something she held in high regard.

“I still feel that it’s just the beginning and I have a long way to go, but I will do my best, work hard and I will continue to rely on God and that’s what I did throughout the week before I went on stage to speak, perform or before I went out for any public engagements,” she said.

She said she grew close to the other contestants despite the intense week.

“The most important thing that I have learnt from taking part is that we should never doubt God and never doubt yourself because there were times when I thought things weren’t falling into place because there were minor hiccups along the way,” she said.

She resumes classes today to prepare for her exams before she prepares for the Miss Fiji Pageant.

“I am excited because I know it’s going to be a new experience altogether and I just know that I have the support of God, my family and friends,” she said.

Proud mother Sangeeta Kapoor said: “I had already told her that when you come back you will come back with two crowns and that is what had happened. “When we prayed in the morning God had already given us the answer that she would take the crown,” she said.

Miss Charity and Vodafone Sugar Festival second runner up was Miss Lautoka Club Nagma Naicker. She raised $ 6475. The total funds raised by the queen contestants was $26,869.45.
