Villagers Accept Traditional Apology from RKS Parents, Teachers Association
Nananu villagers have accepted the presentation of a traditional apology by the Parents and Teachers Association of Ratu Kadavulevu School (RKS) in Tailevu regarding an incident that occurred two weeks ago.
The incident involved an alleged brawl between villagers and RKS students. Village headman Viliame Tuca said that the village had a close relationship with the school. He also said their support for the school, teachers and students remained firm.
“We want to maintain this cordial relationship,” he said yesterday.
Mr Tuca said many from the village were employed by the school, their children were also educated there and the village was receiving lease money from the school.
Regarding the incident, the Nananu Village headman said they did not want to comment because the report was with Police.
He was not happy that the report was now with the authorities after they had agreed that the matter was now resolved.
“I was shocked when I heard that the report was in the media and they did not have the courtesy to come to me,” he said.
“Some of the comments were not accurate.”
RKS principal Pio Veivoli confirmed the incident and said the report was with the Ministry of Education. Police spokesperson Ana Naisoro confirmed they had received the report and their investigation were continuing.
When the Fiji Sun visited the school yesterday, the Police were interviewing the principal.
They went to Nananu to see the complainant, but he was not in the village. He was also not at work yesterday. Ms Naisoro said this incident was reported to them two weeks ago and they had sent the complainant to get his medical report.
“As of today (yesterday) we’re still waiting for the medical report,” she said.
Police investigation is continuing.
