Fiji is a secular state under the 2013 Constitution which gives equal rights to every Fijian to freely practise their religious faith. Now with the rising crime rate such as rape and domestic violence, it is alarming that some of our own Christian pastors are quick to blame the Fijian Government. I always look forward to hear the word of God on Sunday morning at 6am-6.30am from our FBC radio station. There was this pastor who preached recently and started accusing the Government for all these crimes committed in Fiji because of changes in the Constitution for a secular state. They must learn to blame themselves first because they failed in their duty to preach the word of God from the Bible to their congregation. Gone are those days where we can see our pastors walking the streets or home visitations to empower their flocks.

Now we can only see them driving by in their tinted vehicles like Government ministers while some of them have bodyguards as servants to carry their Bible, water bottle and handkerchief.

I ask you all to please preach the word of God to your congregation and stop preaching about politics and secular state.

Our Government is doing its best to improve the lives of every Fijian to move them away from poverty. Our churches are decorated with Bible quotes and slogans yet we continue to see our members involved in crimes or serving their jail terms.

This is a sad period for us Christians in Fiji simply because some of our pastors and elders have failed in their duties. Please stop preaching about tithing and soli and politics. Just preach the word of God that brings salvation to the people. Now for us Christians, we must turn away from our sins and obey the word of the Lord Jesus Christ. We must remember that blessings will follow those who obey his word and curses will also plague those who are disobedient to his word. This is written clearly in the Bible - Deuteronomy Chapter 28 for you to read and understand the blessings and wrath of God to those who disobey him.
