The ANZ Fiji Excellence in Tourism Awards (FETA), will be held at the Sofitel Resort and Spa on March 14, 2020 and is expected to be the biggest ever.

The theme for the FETA Awards night is Celebrating Tourism Excellence in People and Product.

FETA chairman Bill Whiting said they have already received more entries as compared to the same period before the last awards.

He has encouraged companies and organisations to send in nominations of employees who they thought should be recognised for outstanding contributions to the industry.

“The deadline for the entries is October 15,” Mr Whiting said. “Entries are rolling in, you can send the nominations through the FETA website or through the secretariat.” The judging process for the final nominees in each category would begin in late October and through to December and they are currently finalising the judging panel.

This would be headed by FMF chief executive officer Ram Bajekal. There are 16 awards and are similar to last year. “Everyone needs to get behind the Awards because this is a competitive industry and we have a fantastic product here in Fiji.

Major sponsor

ANZ has signed on as the major sponsor of the event for another two years while the Platinum sponsor is Fiji Airports.

Gold sponsors are Vodafone, Fiji Gas and Tappoo Group of Companies who have all recommitted their sponsorships for another two years. Sofitel Fiji Beach Resort and Spa is one of the new sponsors for FETA and were successful in its bid to host the awards night.

Tourism industry

ANZ’s Nathan Wilson said the FETA awards showcased all who are involved in the tourism industry and ANZ would continue to add their support.

“We have a dedicated tourism unit in the West so we want our branding to be closely associated with the industry. “We get great mileage every year so that’s why we keep coming back.” Sofitel Fiji Beach Resort and Spa general manager Vincent Macquet said they guaranteed a “night to remember.” He said the awards night would also include some international acts to entertain the guests.

“The celebrations would go into the wee hours of the next day.”
