Tavua target IDC final

Team manager Rajneel Ram said they have made plans to make it to the final of the Courts Interdistr­ct Championsh­ip that starts next Tuesday at Prince Charles Park, nadi.

The Tavua football team want to leave the premier division on a high note, says a senior official. Team manager Rajneel Ram said they have made plans to make it to the final of the Courts Interdistr­ict Championsh­ip that starts next Tuesday at Prince Charles Park, Nadi.

Ram told Sunsports that the players are committed to their daily training programme.

“When we want to win we’ve to be committed to our training despite it being held under the heat or whatever condition we face,” he said.

“We are looking forward to at least reaching the semifinal and move up slowly to the final from there.” He confirmed the team have welcomed the new Tavua Football Associatio­n president Ravendra Prasad.

“With the new management in place, we know they will bring new ideas and this is something that will boost us with our preparatio­ns toward the championsh­ip.” Tavua FA have been renowned for producing top players like Clyde Lagilevu, Savenaca Nasara, Josefa Masilagi, Alfred Arapio, Viliame Batidegei and the list goes on.

Ram said coach, Nazeel Ali is still incharge.

“There are a number of students in the team and we are grateful to their school heads for cooperatin­g with us and allowing them to come for training.

“Tavua fans year will not be disappoint­ed. We will put on a good display,” he added.
