In a bid to help businesses and bankers understand and serve their customers better, the Fiji Institute of Bankers is holding a two day Business workshop in Suva.

ANZ Fiji Country Head and Fiji Institute of Bankers president Saud Minam said this forum was for participants to better understand their clients, their supervisors and their role as a service provider to the business community.

He said this would help them further understand the global laws so that they could implement it in their own businesses.

With this annual event, he said, they are expecting about 100 to 125 people.

“The only difference is that around this time, we will be a lot more focused on company compliance and the changing regulatory environment and customer information, how we can protect the customers,” mr minam said.

“The Government has actually come out with a new regulatory framework in terms of online security system.

“So there will be specialised lawyers coming in and talking about how this will help us moving forward and the efficiencies of the system.”

The two-day workshop will be held at Holiday Inn on Tuesday, October 15 and Wednesday, October 16.

Participants will also have the opportunity to network and make new acquaintances.

Topics include:

Mortgagee Sales, Personal Property Security Act, Financial Transaction Reporting, Climate Financing and Project Consideration, Listing and Investing on the South Pacific Stock Exchange (SPX), Anti-Money Laundering Compliance and a recent case study, Compliance and Challenges.
