Rugby league for me: Tudravu

Even though he grew up in the football crazy town of Ba, Maika Tudravu is grateful to play rugby and later switched to rugby league.

On Friday, the 28-year-old will play for the Fijian Prime Minister’s XIII against the Australian Prime Minister’s XIII at the ANZ Stadium, Suva.

Tudravu plays for the Army Bears in the Vodafone Cup competitio­n.

Playing rugby for a good number of years, he was told to play rugby league by his friends.

“I always watch my friends play every weekend and they motivated me to play this beautiful game,” he said.

“They told me to try it out and I fell in love with the game because it’s quite physical and I love physicalit­y.

“I love the sport because it teaches me to be a good and humble person and it’s an absolute honour to represent Fiji.

“I want to make my country, family and people that I love proud. I need to improve my defence and be a team player.

“My aim is to gain as much knowledge and play to the best of my ability against the Australian XIII.”

A Family Man

Apart from rugby league Tudravu is committed Tudravu plays for the Army Bears in the Vodafone Cup Competitio­n. Playing rugby for a good number of years, he was told to play league by his friends. in spending quality time with his family, especially his daughter. “When I am free I go down to Ba and spend time with my family and always a wonderful moment for me to meet them after a while,” he said.
