ANNIVERSARY PLAN WITH POLICE HUSBAND ENDS IN TRAGEDY
Plans for their 10th wedding anniversary ended in tragedy for a Nadi couple. Anareta Naisoro was looking forward to renew her vows in December, but this was cut short after husband, Jesoni Naisoro, 41, an officer at the Nadi Police Station was mowed down in an alleged hit and run accident.
This was at Nataly, Nadi, on Wednesday night.
Mrs Naisoro cried as she said that their plans of celebrating their 10 years of marriage was now in vain.
“Everything we had organised for that day has come to an abrupt end,” she said.
“Last week, I mentioned to him about the anniversary. We looked forward to December 11 when we would celebrate our special day.” Mrs Naisoro last saw her late husband at lunch time that day. He had returned from Denarau and he went to Namaka for an appointment with their doctor.
“He asked me to cook lunch because he would return to meet their operation team in Namaka. That was the last time we talked.” Mrs Naisoro said his husband was a caring man with big dreams for the family, especially their two daughters.
Mr Naisoro hailed from Nukunuku, Tavuki, in Kadavu, and has been part of the force for the past 15 years.
Police spokesperson Ana Naisoro confirmed the 41-year-old officer died on the spot after being allegedly bumped by a vehicle believed to be racing with another vehicle. “He was crossing the road at the traffic light from CAAF compound side when the vehicle hit him,” she said.
“The driver, believed to be in his 20s, was under the influence of alcohol at the time of the incident.” The vehicle the suspect was driving was found abandoned at a hotel car park. He was later arrested and is in Police custody.
