Ms Ali further added that this programme provides participants an understanding of their roles and responsibilities as corporate secretaries.
“They keep a very highly confidential and are in a very trustworthy position. “Sometimes a corporate secretary is an employee of an organisation but he/she must also understand that he/she reports to the board,” added Ms Ali. act, the roles and responsibilities as a board director.
“My take from this is that we can even do a governance analysis on associations so it may not be at a corporate level but it can also be tailored down to various levels,” said Mrs Wong.
She further explained that sports has now become an investment commodity thus there needs to be compliance.
“Sports make money and people are investing into the sporting arenas as a business.
“With it being a business, there must be accountability and transparency; there must be compliance to certain things.
“Now we need sports to be more accountable and they need to be compliant,” added Mrs Wong.
The three day master programme was organised by Pacific Corporate Governance Institute and Fiji Revenue and Customs Authority which focused on corporate governance.
There were more than 20 representatives from different private and public organisations that participated in the training.
