PM Praises Superb Display By Disciplined Forces
Prime Minister Voreqe Bainimarama yesterday praised the disciplined forces for the excellent Fiji Day parade at Albert Park, Suva.
He said their superb display was blessed by the fine weather. More than 400 personnel from the Republic of Fiji Military Forces (RFMF), RFMF Naval Division, Fiji Police Force and Fiji Corrections Service were part of the parade. The parade commander, Commanding Officer (CO) of the Third Battalion Fiji Infantry Regiment (3FIR) Lieutenant Colonel Aseri Rokoura thanked all those who were part of the parade.
This was his first as parade commander.
“I had taken part in a number of parades and this is the first one that I’m in charge of. In the 2002 and 2003 parade I was the parade adjutant,” he said.
Lt-Col Rokoura said he was blessed to be chosen as parade commander.
He said it was a huge responsibility for him and was glad that he carried out the task in the way required of him which also made the RFMF Commander, Rear Admiral Viliame Naupoto, the senior officers and the disciplined force family proud.
He dedicated the parade to all Fijians.
He said the weather favoured them and it contributed to the fine display of all those who participated at the parade.
Lt Col Rokoura thanked all those who were present at Albert Park to watch the Fiji Day parade.
The Albert Park pavilion was packed with students from schools in Suva.
During the 21-gun salute the students cheered as every shot was fired.
