17 for Miss Fiji and new logo launched
The Miss Fiji pageant new logo was launched at the Suva Civic Centre on Friday.
It was noted that 17 queen contestants would vie for the five-day event which starts on November 11.
This is the biggest contingent yet since the town and city municipalities’ queens are now combined with last year’s and this year’s winners.
However, only one will represent the country at the Miss Pacific Islands Pageant that will be held in Papua New Guinea from November 25.
Miss Fiji Pageant Board chairperson Div Damodar said: “The empowerment of women is necessary for the development of any society.
“This pageant will give 17 young ladies the opportunity to speak on issues that they are passionate about; both nationally and regionally and their ability to influence or advance positive change in the Pacific.”
On the new logo, he said: “The new logo works best to represent the new vision and mission of the newly appointed Miss Fiji Pageant Board and Committee. “Women are the heart of our households and the souls of any society and this is translated in the logo and will be portrayed during the pageant.”
The 2019 Miss Fiji Pageant will be hosted at the Civic Centre (Upper Auditorium).
Meanwhile, 12 contestants were launched on Friday night. It is understood that the remaining contestants are yet to be announced because the carnivals for some of the municipalities were yet to take place or were currently underway.
