Being nominated for the Fiji Human Resources Institute Award gives employees the satisfaction that they were being recognised for their work, a winner says. Seema Kumar, 2018 Human Resource Practitioner Award winner made the comment during her presentation during the BSP Life Fiji Human Resources 2019 Conference at the Sofitel Fiji Resort and Spa in Nadi.

Ms Kumar is the Human Resources Manager for Future Farms in Ba She described the FHRI awards as a fabulous process where one learns strengths, weaknesses and areas to improve on. “We saw things from an external perspective – a way to assess internal operations, company culture and overall success,” Ms Kumar said.

“Applying for the awards helps us to deliver into our company, our culture and gives us progress reports on how we are doing.

“It gives greater employee satisfaction for being recognised for the hard work – a positive sign for employee engagement and productivity and overall sustainability of the business progress,” said Ms Kumar. Ms Kumar said, she came from a company that allowed diversity and inclusivity.

She said HR practitioners need to show that they are capable of being collaborative, influential, future oriented and solutions driven which required courage.

“It’s not what you do but how you do it, a more personal touch matters and do it the way you want to be recognised and appreciated,” she said.
