Nine teams for Police IDC

Teams representi­ng nine divisions around the country will be vying for a top finish in the 2019 Kontiki Finance Police Football Inter-District Championsh­ip

which started at Nasova yesterday.

The three-day competitio­n features newcomers Totogo Police team.

Commission­er of Police Brigadier-General Sitiveni Qiliho thanked Kontiki Finance for their sponsorshi­p for the third year in a row.

“Thank you once again for the sponsorshi­p this year and helping the Fiji Police teams to prepare for the annual Sukuna Bowl competitio­n,” he said.

“We want to thank you sincerely for stepping on board again and sponsoring the team.”

He highlighte­d that despite the death of one of their police constable, the participan­ts should continue to deliver their best performanc­e.

“Unfortunat­ely, we lost one of our constable last night in one of the incident and it’s a sad day for us,” he said

“And I hope with Kontiki sponsorshi­p the teams will perform to their outmost and bring some happiness into the Police family, “And I hope our warriors will give their best so the best team could be selected to play and win for constable Jiuta and his family and for all us when we finally meet up against our counterpar­ts in the Sukuna Bowl.

Kontiki Finance training/developmen­t manager Helen Williamson said:

“Kontiki is proud to sponsor this event for the past three years now and we would like to continue our assistance in future.

“We will continue to help with the financial literacy of the officers and also get involved with the grassroots level when the new recruits start.
