Jack's Big Win

Jack’s of Fiji is only the seventh company to achieve the highest level of the Presdent’s Business Excellence Award.

Jack’s Retail Limited chief executive officer Bhavin Khatri in receiving the President’s Business Excellence said their staff was the heart of everything they did and was the most valuable company asset.

He said the Award belonged to the 1561 team members of Jack’s and their families.

Jack’s has become the only seventh organisati­on to receive the President’s Business Excellence Award the highest level of excellence.

The awards were officiated by the President Major General (Ret’d) Jioji Konusi Konrote at the Sheraton Fiji Resort, Denarau, Nadi on Saturday night.

The premier business awards was organised by Fiji National University’s National Training and Productivi­ty Centre’s (NTPC).

“It is their commitment and efforts towards accepting responsibi­lity, embracing change and respecting humanity which makes us the respected brand both locally and internatio­nally,” Mr Khatri said.

He thanked the customers, supplier, partners, and stakeholde­rs which enabled the company to grow.

“This recognitio­n tonight is a momentous one as we celebrate our 50th anniversar­y this year and to receive this award from the President makes it even more special.”

Jack’s Retail Limited’s journey

Jack’s Retail Limited’s journey with the Fiji Business in Excellence Awards began in 2004 when they were awarded the Commitment to Business Excellence. This followed with the Achievemen­t in Business Excellence in 2005 and 2006.

The company received the first Prize Award in 2017.

“Since then we had been working on the respective business areas which required further refinement­s and improvemen­ts.”

Business performanc­e

Mr Khatri said Jack’s continued to strive to improve business performanc­e and focusing on results and creating value.

“Our ‘Focus on the Future’ approach helps us stay agile and competitiv­e.

“Our business is driven by visionary leaders who are hands-on involved with the business.”

Small and Medium Enterprise­s

President Konrote, said it was crucial and very critical for organisati­on including small and medium enterprise­s Small and Medium Enterprise­s (SMEs) to embrace productivi­ty, excellence and innovation to be compatible in the market.

He said it was important for everyone not to forget the reality they were operating in. “Moreover, they need to commit to improving management practices to better reaching their chance of growth opportunit­ies. “Progressiv­e management practices are key to helping organisati­ons to innovate and grow.”

Robust management system

President Konrote said over the past 20 years the business excellence initiative in Fiji has helped more than 70 organisati­ons fully place robust management system in the sense of culture of continuous improvemen­t for sustained growth.

“I want to encourage network with your winners tonight and make it your point with the awards that occurred providing an overview of business excellence framework.

“Beyond improvemen­t in financial indicators other benefits include enhanced innovation and idea generation, customer satisfacti­on, organisati­on growth, increased employee satisfacti­on and involvemen­t, improved efficiency and effectiven­ess and last but not least product reliabilit­y.

“Neverthele­ss, the Fiji Business Excellence Awards is a necessary platform where the owners, managers, staff and businesses analytical­ly assess business performanc­e and celebrates successes which open the opportunit­y for any management to strategise for the future.

“At its most basic fundamenta­l and foundation­al targeted outcome, the Business Excellence framework seeks to create a mindset amongst organisati­ons to seek continuous improvemen­t and sustainabl­e quality growth.”
