Former hospital recorder in court
Aformer recorder with the Colonial War Memorial Hospital (CWMH) appeared at the Magistrates Court in Suva yesterday on corruptionrelated charges.
Samuela Wainibuli is charged by the Fiji Independent Commission Against Corruption (FICAC) with one count each of falsification of documents and of general dishonestycausing a gain.
He appeared before Magistrate Waleen George, represented by a duty solicitor from the Legal Aid Commission.
It is alleged that on or about September 15, 2019, at Suva, Wainibuli falsified the duplicate and triplicate copy of Ministry of Health receipt number 091031, with the intention of obtaining a gain from the Ministry of Health.
It is also alleged that on or about September 15, 2019, at Suva, Wainibuli
dishonestly obtained a gain, falsified the duplicate and triplicate copy of Ministry of Health receipt number 091031 and as a result, obtained a gain in the sum of $54.50 from the Ministry of Health.
FICAC counsel Adrian Sharma told the court that the first phase disclosures were served. Magistrate George has granted bail to the accused on the bail sum of $200.
She has warned him to keep out of trouble while on bail. Wainibuli was also ordered not to interfere with any of the prosecution witnesses, to surrender his passport and not to obtain any travel documents.
Magistrate George has also issued a stop departure order on the accused.
The matter has been adjourned for mention on February 6, 2020.
