PORT DENARAU MARINA STATUS POST TROPICAL CYCLONE SARAI

-

Port Denarau Marina released an update on the status of its assets due to the effect of Tropical Cyclone Sarai as at December 30, 2019.

A statement released by the company yesterday said: “There have been no damages to the landside of our operations, however the marina has sustained damage to some jetties and is currently assessing the financial costs of repairs to infrastructure.

“Commercial Operations have resumed their scheduled trips as at Monday the 30th of December following clearance from Maritime Safety Authority of Fiji. Vessels who had sought shelter in the mangrove adjacent to the marina channel have commenced returning to their berths.

“Vessels who were hauled out during the adverse weather conditions are currently being relaunched. While we are working on repairs, we are closely liaising with our customers to ensure that they can all go about their business as smoothly as possible.

“For majority of our operations, its business as usual. Port Denarau Marina would like to thank all its customers who heeded to the marinas cyclone procedures and evacuated the marina promptly ahead of TC Sarai’s approach closer to the west of Viti Levu.

“This has no doubt been one of the slowest moving system in the region. We will carry out repairs at the earliest and continue to provide the world class service we are known for.” The company stated further information on the financial impact of TC Sarai on Port Denarau Marina will be released once all of the damage has been assessed.
