Media organisati­ons and relevant stakeholde­rs yesterday undertook an opportunit­y to interpret and understand listed entity market announceme­nts.

A skill also acquired to compile business stories for media organisati­ons.

The comprehens­ive training also focused on assets allocation, portfolio constructi­on, wealth management and interpreti­ng market announceme­nts.

It was facilitate­d by Professor Erik Larson from Macalaster College in Minnesota, United States of America (USA).

Fiji Sun Managing Editor Business, Maraia Vula and Deputy Managing Editor Business, Frederica Elbourne participat­ed at the one day workshop.

In a statement, the South Pacific Stock Exchange highlighte­d that such training would also enhance competenci­es within its participan­ts and the industry.

It said: “Based on this premise, the prime objective of this training is to build capacity and to equip individual­s working in accounts, finance, investment, business advisory, media and news, stockbroki­ng, wealth management, research. “As well as analysis department­s of respective organisati­ons with the skills and knowledge vital to comprehend foundation­s of asset allocation and construct and implement optimal investment portfolio by translatin­g strategies into practice.

“Additional­ly, this training entails necessary coverage on interpreti­ng and understand­ing listed entity market announceme­nts and using it effectivel­y to make informed investment decisions,” SPX stated. The training was held at Tower 11, Reserve Bank of Fiji Building.
