In its bid to instill life’s values to our youth, the Fiji Yuva Institute of Sanatan Gyan has started with term one Gurukul classes on Sunday.

This year the institute will be covering Hanuman Chalisa and Sundara Kkanda in detail.

The institute’s president, Ravneel Chand, said the institution was trying to instill values to the youth which was underpinned by Sanatan Dharam.

“We are trying to teach life long skills to students; how to debate, how to manage time, how to value other people, how to write essays and most importantly enhancing their academics,” he said.

The classes take place from 10am to 12pm every Sunday at Tulsi Tirath Mandir in Nawanawa, Nadera.

“We teach Hindi, Hanuman Chalisa, Ramayan, moral values, yoga and music classes,” he said.

Mr Chand said there were a lot of skills and values lacking in the youths of today so they were trying to bring the best they could do for them.

Currently there are 25 students participating in Gurukul classes. He said the mandir was hosting the classes and it’s free for anyone who wanted to learn and develop their skills.

“There are different criteria for different age group and it is good and beneficial for today’s generation,” he said.

Classes are divided into three terms as per the school terms.

“We want to create a responsible citizen through Sanatan Dharam,” Mr Chand said.

“We are working on comprehensive curriculum and once it’s ready we will share with other organisations.”
