We wish all The school Prefects an Exceptional Year of Success
The schools’ prefects induction this year has given us a wealth of information about our potential leaders of the future. From what we have seen so far, our future is in good hands.
Our young leaders recognise their parents, families and relatives who have helped them to get where they are today. That’s a good quality. It shows they are well grounded and humble.
Good and effective leadership is also about humility. The student leaders have given a variety of inspiring insights about their understanding of leadership and its responsibilities.
They have made it clear that their focus is to serve and help build character to enable students to rise to their true potential.
Some of them have come from humble backgrounds. Take for example Ahmadiyya Muslim College head boy Kelemedi Turaganikoro. He spoke candidly to our reporter.
He is raised by an aunt after his parents separated. Although he misses his parents, he will not allow his emotions to overcome him.
In fact, he is using the experience as a motivation to be independent and succeed in life.
His says his new leadership role has given him the impetus to achieve his dream.
His resolve to put behind him his family challenges is a mark of potential leader of the future.
Some people would have lost interest and become negative about life but not Kelemedi. They blame their past for the difficulties they are going through today.
But he has resisted the temptation to go down that road. It would have been the easy way out, but he realised that it was the wrong way.
He chose to be an optimist, realising that the only way forward was to focus on the positive.
While other student leaders have been blessed with strong supportive parents he knows that he has to fend for himself.
It won’t be easy but he is determined to succeed. That’s the kind of indomitable spirit that sets great people apart from the rest.
So today we salute Kelemedi and others like him for their courage and commitment to overcome the odds. Some have not survived similar experiences because they have allowed their problems to take the better of them.
Kelemedi is an inspiration and we wish him and all the prefects an exceptional year of achievements and success.
