HEAD PREFECTS PROUD OF ACHIEVEMENT
Prime Minister Voreqe Bainimarama and his wife Mary are two proud grandparents. Yesterday they witnessed their granddaughters Kristelle Sorovaki and Emmalyne Whippy inducted as student leaders of St Anne’s Primary School at the Sacred Heart Cathedral in Suva.
Kristelle, who is in Year 8, is the head girl while Emmalyne is the assistant prefect for her Year 7 class.
Kristelle said her grandfather was her inspiration to become a good role model for the students.
“I grew up around a lot of leaders in my family but I have always looked and admired my grandfather.”
Kristelle said her grandfather taught her to respect others if she wanted to earn respect.
“I want to look after people and make sure that I am a good role model. I want to inspire them to do well in life, just like my grandfather.”
Kristelle said she was humbled and blessed to be entrusted with the leadership role.
She aspires to be a doctor or lawyer in the future.
Mr Bainimarama said he was happy to see his two granddaughters among those badged as student leaders.
He said parents always looked forward to seeing their children reaping the reward of their hard work. Kristelle’s mother RubyAnn Sorovaki is a bank officer at the Bank South Pacific and her father Sale Sorovaki is the operations manager at the Fiji Rugby Union.
Mrs Sorovaki said Kristell was a hard worker and she always focused on her family and studies. “We are a very proud parents and I believe that my daughter will have a bright future ahead and lead her sisters as a role model,” she said.
