SOLO MOTHER PROUD OF DAUGHTER’S ACHIEVEMENT

- MERELEKI NAI Edited by Ivamere Nataro

It was worth the sacrifice for a single mother to witness her daughter being inducted as the head girl of Nadi Sangam Primary School.

Priya Prasad said to witness her daughter Naisha Singh badged as the head girl was one of the happiest moments of her life.

“People have said negative things about us but I am thankful that my daughter is proving them wrong with her achievements in school. God has chosen me to be her mother and she is making me proud,” the 35-year-old said.

“Being a single mum, it is a joy to see my children achieve a significant role in the school. To me, it’s worth the sacrifice and commitments in taking care of my two daughters and supporting them through thick and thin.”

The mother of two said she was not surprised that her daughter would be given the leadership role because she was an obedient child and a bright student.

Ms Prasad acknowledged the teachers for giving her eldest daughter the opportunity to prove herself in leading the school. She said her daughter’s nomination was an inspiration to her younger sister, who was still in kindergarten. Meanwhile, Naisha said being chosen as the head girl was about friendship and commitment.

Head boy Aanav Kritesh Mani said the support from his fellow prefects would enable them as student heads to perform their duties effectively.

Four deputies, six assistants and 104 prefects were inducted on Friday. The Fiji Airways regional general manager for Fiji and the Pacific Islands, Josefa Wivou, was the chief guest. He emphasised the role and responsibilities of good leadership.
