Kubu’s double lifts Lions
With the 1-0 lead Labasa had the upper hand as time and again they bombarded the Navua goal.
The Babasiga Lions bounced back in style as they beat Navua 2-0 in the second round of the Vodafone Premier League clash at Subrail Park, Labasa yesterday. Labasa coach Ronil Lal said they are back on track but still need to work hard and improve on their game.
The hosts played with 10-men after defender Lekima Gonerau copped a red card.
What happened: The Lions started strongly and dominated play. In the 13th minute crowd favourite and striker Siotame Kubu slotted in their first goal.
With the 1-0 lead Labasa had the upper hand as time and again they bombarded the Navua goal. Right on the 45th minute it was Kubu again who scored his second goal.
Halftime: Labasa 2-0 Navua Navua came back firing in the second spell but the Labasa defence held on.
In the 68th minute copping his second yellow card Gonerau got his marching orders.
With a man down, Labasa played defensively while Navua went out on attack trying to pull a goal back.

Navua team manager Rohit Deo
said: “The boys were not used to the heat as we are used to training in the evening under the lights.
“Overall, our performance was satisfactory. A lot work needs to be done, if we are to face top teams like Ba and Lautoka.”
Labasa coach Lal said: “We were casual and we could have scored more goals.
“We still need to polish up our finishing, it’s our second game. “I’m positive as those are some of the things we will need to work on before our next game against Nasinu next Sunday.” Edited by Leone Cabenatabua
