Dario Does Mother Proud
Meet Dario Bari. An 18-year-old lad of Moala, Nadi, who was inducted as the head boy of Ratu Sukuna Memorial School on Friday. He was among 149 prefects who were inducted in a fully packed Nabua Methodist Church in Nabua.
Dario was ecstatic with the nomination and is ready to take on the role and responsibilities associated with the leadership role.
And he sure will. Speaking with the Fiji Sun, Dario said his family encountered many challenges when his father passed away in 2011, and he was only in Year four. Dario had to continue to make his mother proud in every aspect of his life.
An elated mother, Lavenia Bari said she had always prayed for the welfare of her children. She said slowly she was seeing the answers to her prayers unfolded before her eyes.
“I thank God for never leaving our side. Since my husband passed away, I was left unemployed and I had to care for my two young children who were still schooling,” Ms Bari said. “Life was not easy and we struggled as a family, but in those situations, I had learnt to be strong and provide the best I could for my young boys.
“I believe that the struggles and difficulties we had faced shaped the man my son is today.”
Dario acknowledged the support of his teachers and family. “I know it will not be easy but I am confident that 2020 will be a different year altogether for Ratu
Sukuna Memorial School,” Dario said.
“I have a great team of teachers and also an enthusiastic team of prefects ready to take on the challenge that lies ahead.”
Head girl Kehala Ayton said she only wished her late grandmother was present at the induction to witness one of her achievements. “She (grandmother) raised me to be the person I am today and had passed on late last year,” Kehala said.
“I dedicate this achievement to her.”
The aspiring pilot said with great power comes responsibility. “I know we have been given the power but we need to be responsible and make wise decisions,” she said.
