Nakelo Treasure Island Resort and Spa Opens Office in Lautoka
The people of the Nakelo clan of Viseisei Village in Vuda, celebrated another milestone achievements with the opening of their new modern office for Nakelo Treasure Island Resort and Spa.
The opening on Saturday was attended by the management and staff of Nakelo Pte. Limited, the parent company of the Nakelo Treasure Island Resort and Spa.
The company is in the process of rebranding from the old Treasure Island Resort to Nakelo Treasure Island Resort and Spa.
The new office space, which has seven offices, a server room, conference room, kitchen, reception area and a large space for storage of goods and equipment was opened by Reverend Manasa Saraqia.
The new office, which has a space of 115 square metres, is located at Nuqa Place, off Marine Drive, is close to where the company had their office previously before it was moved to Nadi.
The company’s Cost and Revenue/Internal Auditor, Mesake Talaboko said they had spent close to $50,000 to refurbish the place.
“We moved back to Lautoka because it is more viable for the company in the sense that we operate out of Vuda Marina so it is closer for us.
“Having the office in Nadi and transferring goods back to Vuda was expensive.”
“We took over Treasure Island on December 2, 2019 when we bought the other 50 per cent shares and fully owned the resort.
“We still have to get our generator which will cost around $30,000.
“We will do everything from here including supplies and reservations of guests.”
Mr Talaboko said the people of Nakelo were extremely happy with the takeover of the island and now that they have a new office which is closer to home.
“The Nakelo clan is actually the first iTaukei landowners in Fiji to fully own a four star resort.
“In fact now it is easier for office staff, most of whom are from Viseisei, to come to Lautoka to work rather than waking up early to travel to Nadi.”
Mr Talaboko said they would now start working on lifting the infrastructure and buildings at the resort, including the construction of a new conference room.
