Shop N Save Opens $1.2m Supermarket in Lautoka

- CHARLES CHAMBERS Feedback:

Shop N Save’s new $1.2 million air-conditioned supermarket will come as a boost to Lautoka.

Opened yesterday, following a Pooja, by the supermarket chain’s managing director Rattan Deo along with his wife Sunil Deo and children Nisheel and Ashnita, the reaction from the first shoppers who crowded the shop was positive.

Customers were especially surprised at the new scanners, a first in Lautoka, that have been installed on the walls where one could scan the barcodes of the products if they want to check price and details.

About the building

Company director Nisheel Deo Kisun said this was an investment that had gone into the full renovation of the three storey building and mainly the shopping area.

“What this means is that this supermarket now is an addition to Shop N Save’s strategic vision of readily upgrading its supermarkets to premium standard.

“This means a better offering to our customers and a better customer service and premium shopping environment to our customers.”

“The main thing we wanted to incorporate in this supermarket was Shop N Save’s culture of offering the best product and service for all our customers.

“By that I mean a better shopping environment and a wider range of products in a clean air-conditioned environment.”

Mr Kisun said these were some of the things that contributed towards providing the best of everything for customers.

“It is the company’s drive to provide the best ambience.

“We have brightened up the shop where customers can see the products clearly.”

He said part of the investments was on the new freezers and coolers they have in the supermarket including the liquor section where they wide range of products were kept in the best standard.

Busy supermarket

The company had opened a big supermarket opposite the Lautoka bus station and which is one of the busiest supermarkets in Lautoka.

However Mr Kisun said this new outlet on Yasawa Street was definitely a step up from that one. “We have plans to further renovate all our stores Fiji-wide as well a few other new additional sites for new stores which I cannot disclose right now.

The ground floor has a shopping space of 850 square metres while the two upper floors are the bulk areas.

Loata Ranadi and Asinate Tora, of Rifle Range, were one of the first customers in and were delighted with the atmosphere.

“It is so nice and a great place to shop,” Ms Tora said.

Prem Wati of Tavakubu said the supermarket was spacious and the price of goods were good.

Babita Karan, of Naikabula, tried out the new scanners mounted on the wall and was happy that she could check on the items if she was unsure on pricing.
