Taking things for granted

-

Dhirendra Prasad, Lautoka

Before this COVID – 19 crisis we had taken our freedom of movement for granted. People used to move freely through all the means of transport to reach where they wanted to.

In fact, travel across the world had become a joke. Empowering as it was but it increased the ego in us of our capabilities.

Drivers drove at such speed that no one could stop them.

Accidents have killed so many innocent people who would have been productive citizens had they not been subjected to their inhumane killing.

The traffic on our roads increased to such levels that rescheduled travelling itineraries of road users.

Ignorant people had forgotten to give first chance to the vulnerable in the society. Temples and churches were feeling the neglect from divine people.

Now everything has been brought to a halt. All must be praying, cars resting and the roads breathing a sigh of relief.

Now people have realised what restricted movement means. Just a virus and the world has been brought to its knees.

That is the power of mother nature. Let us love nature and take necessary care of it. Our polluting ingredients must be controlled that includes our rubbish.

Let’s unite for a common cause, ie COVID-19 and help eradicate it forever. My salutations to the Government of the day in ensuring that the number of infected people is contained to its minimal possible level. We have done well so far.

With combined effort, we can better the situation. God bless us God believers.
