Fiji Bulikula captain Josephine Maejiirs maintains fitness, looks forward to the new season, says Fiji can beat this pandemic

As COVID-19 continues to keep people in lockdown, Fiji Bulikula captain Josephine Maejiirs maintains her fitness by training from home Speaking to Sun Sports from her house in Thornton Estate Sydney, Majiiers looks forward to the new season and is determined that Fijians can fight this pandemic together.

“Our season started a few months ago where we played two games and then the virus came then it was lockdown,” she said.

“I know it’s tough for everyone in the team and especially in Fiji right now with the virus and TC Harold so my heart goes out to all those people affected in the outer islands.”

“To those fans and villagers affected please do remember that our prayers are with you and that we will fight these battles together.” The inspiratio­nal skipper does her training regularly in order to keep fit and healthy during these hard times.

“I have been doing my training at home because i want to be ready when the season starts and it depends on how long the virus can last.”

“Despite the pay cut from our club we still go ahead with training because we are passionate for the sport that we love so much.” “I train three times a week and its tough doing it alone but it’s the only way forward.”

The North Sydney Bears forward has encouraged players in the country to dig deep during these trying times.

“It’s tough not been able to train with your team and develop as a team for the season,” she said.

“As a player you have to dig deep and focus on what can do for the team once the season starts.” “Keep training hard and push yourselves to the limit so that you can maintain consistenc­y.”

“We are all profession­al players so we know and understand on what to do during these times to see that we maintain our fitness.”

“As athletes we have to do our part, picture this as an off season programme so work with whatever you have at home.”

“The internet is a big help for us now days so we can get some training tips.”

“Here we use social media to keep in touch with training daily.”

“It’s easy that way because we get to keep in touch with everyone in the team.”

“At the moment we are training hard for the new season.”
