Marriott International Fiji foundation which translates to ‘giving back’.
“Our objective is to provide associates and their communities with 100 meals per day starting with three villages.
“Initial funding will come from donations by the Senior Leadership team and as we progress.
“We will continue to raise funds by extending our reach to our business partners, family and friends of Fiji for donations, one of which is through our Facebook Page- “SOLIA LESU”.
Kind gesture
Ratu Tevita Dawai, the younger brother of
Tui Nadi Ratu Vuniani Dawai of Narewa Village, thanked Marriott International in Fiji for the kind gesture towards those who had been affected by the COVID-19 crisis.
Speaking on behalf of his older brother, Ratu Tevita said workers and everyone else have been going through some difficult times and challenges.
“These types of gestures do mean a lot to them and their families.”
As for workers from Narewa Village who have been out of work, Ratu Tevita said there has been an increase in the number of people going out to sea and the Nadi River to look for mussels and fish.
“Some have gone back to cultivating their reserved land and are doing it for livelihood and basic food security.
“There are also many others from other villagers in Nadi and not just Narewa who are doing this.”
This initiative also encompasses the “Nurture” pillar of Marriott Serve 360 to create better places to live, work and visit.
