NEW PARTY?
Two years before his death, the late prime minister Laisenia Qarase was linked to talks about a new party. This was during post 2014 when SODELPA was in the throes of a bitter internal political row.
That possibility has apparently been resurrected in the wake of the landmark SODELPA court ruling which has thrown the party in limbo. Mr Qarase was not happy with the split because he was one the founders of the party which inherited the assets from his SDL Party.
Because of ill health he could not do much. Watch for more developments in the coming months.
