Labasa Fire Tragedy

I am shocked and horrified to learn of the tragedy of four elderly women friends who perished in a house fire while they were sleeping.

This is the month of Ramadan and Mother’s Day is just around the corner.

See what cruel gift these four elderly mothers have got for the twin celebrations which the country is going to mark?

Mothers are respected members of our society irrespective of their race, religion, colour or creed.

Everyone respects their mothers and recognise the huge sacrifice they have made to bring them up in this world. Only mothers know the pain of carrying children in their womb for nine months and then giving them painful birth. But we cannot imagine the joy they experience when they see their babies in their arms.

The Police will carry out the investigation and establish the cause of fire. However, if there is an element of arson involved the natural cause of justice should take place once the culprits are apprehended.

In the mean time I do want to convey my deepest condolences to the families of the women who died a tragic death in a house fire.

May their soul rest in peace.
