Afamily of nine of Daloko settlement in Dreketi, is seeking assistance after their four-bedroom wooden house was destroyed in a fire last Monday.

The family, including a three weekold-baby girl, lost two family members before Christmas last year after drowning in the Dreketi River. Head of the family, Sushil Chand, 51, said: “It hasn’t been one year since my son-in-law and grandson died and now we are into mourning period again over our house, [and] we could only save ourselves. “I don’t know how we can collect money to start rebuilding the house.

Police spokesperson Ana Naisoro said the fire was believed to have started from a bedroom where all solar inverters were kept.

The National Fire Authority says investigations continue.
