Coach receives first pay, work permit approved
Vodafone Fijian football head coach, Flemming Serritslev has finally got his work permit approved.
After weeks of waiting Serritslev received his first pay (which is from March 13 to April 13) yesterday.
Fiji Football Association (FFA) president, Rajesh Patel said the Fiji National Sports Commission (FNSC) was given all the documents on Monday.
“We have signed an agreement with the Sports Commission, they have given us a date when they will pay him and he will get paid accordingly,” Patel told SUNsports.
When contacted Sports Commission executive chairman, Peter Mazey yesterday confirmed that Serritslev’s pay has been made.
“We got the information on Monday, we have paid him today (Tuesday),” Mazey confirmed. “I understand he has made an arrangement with Fiji Football, we are paying what we agreed to. Everything is finalised as per the law,” he added.
Serritslev has been paid for the first month of his employment, since he started on March 13.
His next pay for May will be done next week, says Mazey.
However, he did not wish to discuss about his finances but rather directed it to the Fiji FA executives. “He started on the 13th of March, so 13th of April payment has been made while his pay for May will be paid on the May 13,” Mazey said.
The salary signed is confidential between the coach, Fiji FA and the Sports Commission.
BACK TO WORK
Meanwhile, Serritslev has laid out his immediate plans.
His plans followed an internal meeting with the Fiji FA officials in Nadi last Thursday.
Serritslev will be conducting oneday courses for district coaches in Suva, Labasa and Ba.
“The plan is actually not about the national team, it’s more about making courses for district coaches,” he said.
“Courses for the South will be on Friday, I will travel to Suva, North and West next week.
“It is all about trying to improve Fiji Football,” the 73-year-old Dane added.
The experienced coach says, he would share what he has encountered in camp and the few matches he had guided.
This course will outline some of the basics of coaching that would contribute to lifting the standard of football in the country.
“I will share my experiences with the coaches from my first time here in Fiji, what has been my experience in the matches by watching some of the Vodafone Premier League games,” he said.
“And what are my experiences with the players in the two camps I’ve had until now.
“From there I will take out some topics about the speed of the game, about the perception, awareness and intensity of the game.”
Serritslev said the courses would strictly adhere to Government’s guidelines regarding mass gathering.
It will be less than 20 participants. “We will follow the rules from the Government, there will be no practice,” he said.
“It will all be theoretical.
“There will be about 16 to 18 coaches present.”
He is hopeful that Government would soon lift restrictions on training and tournaments to resume normally.
