West authorities on weather alert

Municipal councils and district offices in the Western Division are taking necessary precautions in case the weather worsens.

Ra District Officer Elimi Rokoduru said Rakiraki there are 80 evacuation centres throughout the province and they would be activated if necessary.

Some flood-prone areas in Ba include:

■ Tavarau settlement

■ Nakavika settlement

■ Votua village

■ Nawaqarua village

■ Nasolo village

Tavua Town Council Chief Executive Officer Praveen Prakash said, the Tavua District office will also

activate evacuation centres when necessary.
