London: A new documentary will claim Princess Diana attempted to kill herself four times and it could be aired on Netflix.

The four-parter - titled ‘Being Me: Diana’ - will air the struggles of the beloved royal and lay bare her mental health battles and eating disorders.

It will tell all about Diana’s troubled childhood right the way through to her unhappy marriage to Prince Charles. It is at that point in her life where she tried to to take her own life, the show is set to claim.

The series will also reveal never-beforeseen footage from Diana’s speeches in 199092. It will make difficult viewing for Prince William and Harry, 23 years on from their mother’s death in Paris.

DSP, the TV company behind ITV’s Torvill and Dean, are behind the controversial project, according to The Sun.

It has not yet been officially commissioned by Netflix but filming is already said to have started, sources suggest. Mirror Online have approached Netflix for comment.

A blow to Prince Harry and Meghan’s plans

And it will especially be a blow to Harry and his wife Meghan Markle, who are said to be in talks with the streaming giant over future projects.

Prince Harry also worked with Netflix on a Thomas The Tank Engine 75th anniversary special shown only this week.

A TV source told The Sun: “The royals have all refused to take part as have the Spencer family (Diana’s family).

“William and Harry will be very upset and angry. It’s particularly distressing for Harry because he’s been working with Netflix.

“At a time when the royals have been dealt a blow with Harry and Meghan leaving, the timing is not good. Harry and Meghan are currently looking into new commercial projects as they settle down in Los Angeles, California after quitting as senior royals.” Meghan has already bagged herself a role narrating a Disney documentary, with the couple reportedly hiring an agent to bag them more big roles.

The couple and their baby son Archie are now living a financially independent life after their decisions to step down from the Royal Family means no more taxpayer funds or HRH titles.
