NETBALL WORLD YOUTH CUP 2021 AWAITS NATIONAL BUDGET ANNOUCEMENT
The Netball World Youth Cup 2021 preparations will start after the National Budget announcement in June.
This was confirmed to SUNsports yesterday by organising committee chairman Ana Tuiketei. The tournament is set for June 10-19, 2021 at the Vodafone Arena in Suva.
“This will be confirmed by the board when the budget is allocated,” said Tuiketei.
“We will have to wait for the June 6th budget announcement before we start any preparations. We’ll also confirm if the tournament will be held on the same date. We will only give an official statement then.”
The Netball World Youth Cup is the pinnacle of netball competition for emerging players who are under 21 years of age and has been held every four years since 1988.
Fiji last hosted the event in 1992.
The event was founded as part of the Australian Bicentenary celebrations with a youth tournament taking place in Canberra. The success of the event led to the tournament being named the ‘Netball World Youth Championships’ and in 2017 it was changed to ‘Netball World Youth Cup’.
