Labasa Col­lege Cleared and Safe for Use: Min­is­ter

Labasa Col­lege was cleaned and now cleared af­ter be­ing used as a COVID-19 quar­an­tine fa­cil­ity. This was con­firmed by Min­is­ter for Health and Med­i­cal Ser­vices, Doc­tor Ifer­eimi Waqain­a­bete, this week.

The fa­cil­ity that was opened in early April has now been sprayed and cleaned by Labasa health of­fi­cials af­ter use. This was the only school used by the min­istry in the North­ern Divi­sion.

Dr Waqain­a­bete said: “There are no sus­pect COVID-19 cases and nei­ther the med­i­cal staff who looked af­ter cases re­main in this fa­cil­ity.

“Those med­i­cal staff who looked af­ter sus­pect cases and con­firmed cases at Labasa Hos­pi­tal iso­la­tion room, are at Fiji For­est In­dus­tries com­plex in Malau, Labasa.”

He said these staff would re­turn home af­ter the re­quired 28-day iso­la­tion was met.

He also con­firmed that there were no COVID-19 pa­tients at Labasa Hos­pi­tal.

Mean­while, the only lock­down area in the North is Vu­nicagi Set­tle­ment and sur­round­ing vil­lages and set­tle­ments in Dreketi, Macu­ata Prov­ince.
