Labasa College was cleaned and now cleared after being used as a COVID-19 quarantine facility. This was confirmed by Minister for Health and Medical Services, Doctor Ifereimi Waqainabete, this week.

The facility that was opened in early April has now been sprayed and cleaned by Labasa health officials after use. This was the only school used by the ministry in the Northern Division.

Dr Waqainabete said: “There are no suspect COVID-19 cases and neither the medical staff who looked after cases remain in this facility.

“Those medical staff who looked after suspect cases and confirmed cases at Labasa Hospital isolation room, are at Fiji Forest Industries complex in Malau, Labasa.”

He said these staff would return home after the required 28-day isolation was met.

He also confirmed that there were no COVID-19 patients at Labasa Hospital.

Meanwhile, the only lockdown area in the North is Vunicagi Settlement and surrounding villages and settlements in Dreketi, Macuata Province.
