PM Voreqe Bain­i­marama vis­its Matuku vil­lagers

Vil­lagers of Yaroi in Matuku were ex­cited when Prime Min­is­ter Voreqe Bain­i­marama vis­ited them yes­ter­day with re­lief sup­plies. Fol­low­ing the tra­di­tional cer­e­mony of wel­come, Mr Bain­i­marama launched a por­ta­ble sawmill by the Fiji Pine Trust, which is aimed at as­sist­ing vil­lagers with re­build­ing their dam­aged houses fol­low­ing the dev­as­ta­tion caused by Trop­i­cal Cy­clone Harold.

A to­tal of 28 houses in the vil­lage were dam­aged by the cy­clone.

The Prime Min­is­ter also vis­ited Ratu Mo­ce­vakaca Me­mo­rial School and had a ta­lanoa ses­sion with the teach­ers and nurses on the is­land.

He con­veyed his sin­cere grat­i­tude to the civil ser­vants for their ded­i­ca­tion and com­mit­ment to the ‘call of duty’.

Mr Bain­i­marama also ini­ti­ated the plant­ing of veg­etable seedlings which is aimed at restor­ing food sup­ply for the vil­lagers.
