Nasinu rubbish

-

Tomasi Boginiso, Australia

At last the Ministry responsible has decided to turn Nasinu into a rubbish free area, which will be an enormous task and the Nasinu people should be involved in all the ways they could. The council or the Ministry cannot work alone and will need the ratepayers assistance.

The people will have to go through a lot of awareness programmes to get rid of the rubbish. Maybe for bottles and cans they can have them refunded at a reasonable price that would motivate the people. In Australia machines are installed every 10k for the public to put in these empties and get cash straight away. Wouldn’t that be great for Fiji? The compound rubbish is the biggest problem for the council, Have a regular collection each day of the week so the people can concentrate on a particular day they can do their clean up.

The squatter areas are where most rubbish are and ratepayers that live beside them are the victims of the rubbish dumping in their area.

Hopefully the Nasinu rubbish free initiative will be good for all stakeholders and rubbish disposal will be controlled in a much better way.
