- Edited by Osea Bola

The Fiji Chess Federation players are looking forward to competing in the Junior Online Chess League on May 17.

This was after players performed extremely against their Australia and New Zealand counterparts. Rudr Prasad, 14, continued his consistent form by scoring 5/7 against international opponents like Nrusingha Rath (NZ Sharp), Tejaswi Kichawadi (NZ Sharp), Jeeva Praveen (AU Sharp) and Benjamin Leong (AU Sharp) to finish 5th in a pool of 55 players.

“JOOC is an initiative by New Zealand and Australia to increase participation in online chess after COVID-19 ended all face-to-face competitions around the world,” general- secretary Goru Arvind said.

“Teams that fieldUnder-18 reps are called Sharp while senior teams are labelled Wise.”
