29 ar­rests for al­leged COVID-19 breach

There were 29 ar­rests made for breach of cur­few last night.

The South­ern Divi­sion recorded 21 ar­rests, seven cases while the Western Divi­sion had one case.

Both the North­ern and Cen­tral Di­vi­sions recorded nil re­ports. Com­mis­sioner of Po­lice Bri­gadierGen­eral Si­tiveni Qil­iho said they an­tic­i­pate cases of sport­ing breaches as we head into an­other week.

He re­minded all Fi­jians that sport­ing ac­tiv­i­ties are still pro­hib­ited. “Fre­quent pa­trols will be con­ducted and any­one who has in­for­ma­tion of these breaches tak­ing place is re­quested to call the Na­tional Po­lice Com­mand Cen­ter on 9905 296 or their Di­vi­sional Com­mand Cen­ters.” Mean­while, Po­lice also con­firmed that the in­ves­ti­ga­tion file into the al­leged claims of as­sault in­volv­ing Po­lice Of­fi­cers in Naqia is with the Of­fice of the Di­rec­tor of Pub­lic Pros­e­cu­tions for in­de­pen­dent le­gal ad­vice.

Chief of In­tel­li­gence and In­ves­ti­ga­tions ACP Biu Matavou con­firmed the file was sent last week.
