POLICE INVESTIGAT­E ALLEGED OFFICERS ASSAULT CLAIMS

Department is heading an investigat­ion with regards to an alleged complaint against Police officers lodged at the Vatukoula Police Station.

The complainan­t, a 20-year-old farmer of Natolevu, claimed he was assaulted by Police officers when he was arrested for an alleged case of theft of livestock, which was found slaughtere­d in the Natolevu Village mountains on March 27.

A team from the CID Headquarte­rs is conducting interviews.

All reports against Police officers and services will be investigat­ed thoroughly and dealt with accordingl­y through our internal disciplina­ry processes and if charged, officers will be produced in Court, Police Commission­er Brigadier General Sitiveni Qiliho said.
