POLICE INVESTIGATE ALLEGED OFFICERS ASSAULT CLAIMS
The Criminal Investigations
Department is heading an investigation with regards to an alleged complaint against Police officers lodged at the Vatukoula Police Station.
The complainant, a 20-year-old farmer of Natolevu, claimed he was assaulted by Police officers when he was arrested for an alleged case of theft of livestock, which was found slaughtered in the Natolevu Village mountains on March 27.
A team from the CID Headquarters is conducting interviews.
All reports against Police officers and services will be investigated thoroughly and dealt with accordingly through our internal disciplinary processes and if charged, officers will be produced in Court, Police Commissioner Brigadier General Sitiveni Qiliho said.
