Vodafone Fijian football head coach Flemming Serritslev has urged district officials to prioritise the health of its players.

This was one of the issues raised during a workshop with the South/Eastern district coaches in Suva, last Friday.

Serritslev said the seminar was a good way in building relationships with coaches as they work towards uplifting the level of football in the country.

“The health sector of the clubs is important because it keeps your players fit or if they have any injuries they get fit earlier and are out of any regular treatment ,” he said.

Preparation period about going into championships was another issue raised.

“Most coaches had only one week to prepare their team for championship and it’s far too late.

“You need to have six to eight weeks to prepare for championships and they have to speak to their president about this,” Serritslev added.

However, he says, other situations faced by district coaches with their clubs are well known.

“It was a very good way of getting contact with the district coaches in those seminars,” the 73-year-old said.

“We had a lot of good football discussions. I had prepared topics that were about timing and speed of passes.

“It was about the intensity of the game, about players awareness on what is happening around. All this is done to make the game faster,” he added.

Serritslev is looking forward to meet other district coaches from the Western and Northern division.

“We had a good seminar in Suva, so it’s important for me to meet the other coaches and build relationship from other districts too,” he said.

He is in Labasa today and the seminar for the Western district coaches will be in Ba on Friday.
