We are to blame

- Amrit Singh, Nausori Feedback: rosi.doviverata@fijisun.com.fj

In the fight against the COVID-19 we must understand what are the causes of such an infectious virus.

We are bystanders, playing sports and not adhering to advice.

We are the ones who put lives at risk.

We are the cause of vandalism on new properties being built by Government.

We are the reason for flooding and dumping rubbish on roads.

We are the reason why the poor is poor and the rich has become richer.

We are the reason why our children are disobedient.

We are the reason why toddlers drown because we are busy on social media or are failing to supervise them.

We are the reason why soil erosion is recurring because we build our houses on clay soil.

We are the reason why animals and sea creatures are suffering.

We are the reason why there is corruption and the completion of a building is long due. We are the reason why cyclones damage our homes because we never take out time to repair that old roof or build it up to standard. We are the reason why we suffer from NCD (non-communicable diseases) because we never heed the doctor’s advice, because we think we know everything.

We are the reason why this virus is sweeping and tearing human dignity and values apart.

We are the reason why, elsewhere in the world, doctors and nurses have lost their lives at an early age because of COVID-19 We are the reason why we have failed as human beings. It is utter disgust to be a human being right now.

We have lost the battle long before and we are the root of all problems.

It is never “THEM” it has always been “WE”. If we continue to go down the road where “WE” matters then there will be no “US” going into the future.

The love is long lost in humanity. COVID-19 is not the bad part. We are.
