More court appearance­s for those allegedly breaching COVID-19 restrictio­ns

Seven men in the Western Division were granted bail by respective Magistrate­s Courts yesterday.

In Nadi, Toni Vesikara and Serupepeli Bola both of Namotomoto appeared at the Nadi Magistrate­s Court before Magistrate Samuela Qica. They were each charged with one count of failure to comply with curfew orders.

Vesikara and Bola were granted bail on the condition that each pay a bail bond of $500, follow a curfew from 6pm to 6am and to appear in court on May 21. Misaki Takahashi, Kotoko Horikiri, Misaki Abe and Seonghun Oh also appeared at the Nadi Magistrate­s Court before Magistrate Nimlini Fernandez. They were each charged with one count of failure to comply with orders for social contact sports.

The accused persons were granted bail on the condition that each pay a bail bond of $1000, each provide a surety and appear in court on July 7. In Sigatoka, Alvis Avesh Kumar appeared at the Sigatoka Magistrate­s Court before Magistrate Jeremaia Savou charged with one count of failure to comply with orders for curfew, one count of dangerous driving and one count of driving a motor vehicle without a drivers’ license. Kumar was granted bail on the condition that he pay a bail bond of $500 with standard conditions and not relocate.

Magistrate Savou adjourned the case to May 19 for mention.
