threatens to use gun to defend home from alleged arsonists

Family members of the late Amoritikei Mainalulu received a pleasant surprise earlier this week when they were visited by the Republic of Fiji Military Forces Commander Land Force, Colonel Manoa Gadai. Mr Mainalulu died while trying to stop an alleged gathering of villagers who were drinking homebrew during curfew hours on the night of April 16, in Baleyagani­ga Village, Vaturova, Vanua Levu.

The late Mr Mainalulu was the village headman.

Colonel Manoa Gadai presented Mother’s Day rations to the late Mr Mainalulu’s widow and children on behalf of the Commander RFMF. Colonel Gadai assured the family that they were are not alone and the RFMF would always be there to support them in every way possible.

Colonel Manoa Gadai also visited the Golf Company of the Third Fiji Infantry Regiment based in Sukanaival­u Barracks in Labasa.

He was updated with the developmen­ts of all operationa­l activities undertaken by his Land Force Command personnel in support of the war against COVID-19 and Humanitari­an Assistance and Disaster recovery. (HADR)

Last week Colonel Gadai had visited Echo Company in Lautoka and Delta Company in Nadi.

His visit to the West included brief visits to temporary posts including DO’s Office Tavua, DO’s Office Ba, and Sofitel Hotel, Denarau,

Nadi where most of the Land Force Command personnel are based at during this ongoing COVID 19 and HADR operations.
