Zoom meeting likely for SODELPA next Saturday
SODELPA executives will likely conduct meetings next Saturday via Zoom during the Management Board, Finance Committee and Working Committee meetings, all on the same day.
According to Party leader Sitiveni Rabuka they will host their meetings online if their request for a permit to convene a “workplace meeting” comprising a quorum of 22 people, is denied.
“It depends on the national state of alert. If that’s not allowed, we will have to do it by Zoom. We will have groups in the West, North, Suva, Nasinu et cetera tuning in by Zoom,” Mr Rabuka said.
He said pending internal investigations against General Secretary Adi Litia Qionibaravi they would attempt a mediation between the parties.
“The Registrar of Political Parties, Mohammed Saneem, has indicated that Adi Litia was still a recognised registered officer of the party,” Mr Rabuka said.
As far as the party is concerned, he said her duties were limited to the administration of the three meetings this week.
He also mentioned that the Management Board would decide if applications received for the Party Leader position would still be considered, an effect of the SODELPA Civil Court Case judgment.
“All applications that were received when the Party Leader Expression of Interest advertisement was published will have to be withheld because it was drawn up by Pita (Usaia Waqatairewa), whom the court has declared his appointment to be invalid,” Mr Rabuka said.
“As of now there is no advertisement and call for applications. Our applications had to meet a certain deadline and it’s up to the management board whether they want to put out a fresh ad and whether to allow those that have applied to keep their applications valid.”
