Pipe Dreams Fiji Plants Wow Factor
BUSINESS WAS BORN ON THE BACK OF PLANS AROUND A BASIN OF GROG WITH GOOD COMPANY
Pipe Dreams Fiji is snowed under with orders since its launch last week. The Nasoso-based business which operates out of a garage, was born around a basin of kava, said coowner Kitione Pickering.
“Alot of discussions around the basin are based on piped dreams. “Ours was no different.
“Until we finally made some headway into actually delivering on our plans, our dream.
“That’s how the name of the business came to be.”
Mr Pickering and co-founder Tevita Soro are neighbours in Nadi who enjoy each other’s company. “We were gardening in the back one afternoon, when we decided we’d have to do something more constructive with our time in lockdown,” Mr Pickering said.
In the garden
Since most people had turned to farming following the coronavirus pandemic, the two neighbours decided they’d contribute too by valuing adding to the gardening phase. The duo began making suspended planters and ladder planters with leftover and discarded material in their respective backyard.
Pipe Dreams Fiji, a two-man workforce comprising Mr Pickering and Mr Soro, is working on other creations, which will be announced at a later stage.
In the meantime, the duo use PVC pipe and wood to create homemade planters.
“We received 70 orders nationwide in a span of five days.
“We’ve even received queries from New Zealand,” Mr Pickering said.
Deadlines
For a two-member team, meeting deadlines is bearable when friends drop over to mix a basin of yaqona for the two business entrepreneurs.
“A basin of grog can do alot of good for us, especially as we often work late into the night.”
Pipe Dreams Fiji delivers to your door, at an additional cost.
“We’re excited for the new ideas we’re working on.
“The results of that will be delivered in the near future.
“These things would not be possible without the support of a croos section of people.”
