leaves for Tubou, Lakeba in the Lau Group tomorrow for its first voyage there.

Goundar Shipping Limited managing director George Goundar said yesterday this was the first time for one of his nine vessels to be going to Lakeba.

He confirmed that this was not a franchise trip.

“On Thursday (tomorrow), we will go to Lakeba for the first time and the first of the many trips we will make there,” Mr Goundar said. 6 (LP6) is going tomorrow,”

he said.

“It would be a weekly trip and we are looking forward to this trip because it is the first time we are taking this route.

“We hope to make this route a permanent one. Since Natuvu jetty is closed we saw Lakeba as an opportunity.

“We would be carrying anything that we can move, including pine, sandalwood and timber. The fare will be the same as that of franchise run to Lakeba.

“It would be 16 hours to Lakeba and another 16 returning.”
